Property in Bulgaria: remember Danish tax in 2026
Purchase, rental use and local taxes need to be considered together.

What to consider
Report the address, purchase price in Danish kroner and takeover date to the Danish Tax Agency. Include the purchase in the preliminary assessment and later in the purchase-year return.
Record ownership share, availability for private use, rental periods and rental income. Keep local property taxes separate from service charges and other costs.
Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026 at EUR 1 = BGN 1.95583. Retain older lev documents and newer euro records with their dates.
Foreign tax payments do not automatically complete Danish reporting. Bring the purchase agreement and local assessments to a review of income and possible relief.
